Restaurant Mystery Shopping & Customer Experience Solutions
You strive to give guests impeccable service. But how do you actually know if they’re getting it? Doesn’t matter if you’re running a sit-down dining room or a drive-thru built for speed, the question’s the same.
Reality Based Group™ leads the industry in restaurant mystery shopping and customer experience. Our technology and covert mystery shoppers show you the restaurant the way a guest sees it. Real insight, not guesswork.
For quick service and fast casual, that means measuring speed, accuracy, and consistency at the counter or the window. Not just how the food tastes. In-N-Out is proof of what’s possible. They’ve landed in Glassdoor’s top 3 places to work nationally, one of only three restaurant brands to make that list, and they keep opening new locations year after year. The common thread: a customer experience that holds up no matter how busy the shift gets.
Real data means you train where it counts. Faster tickets. Higher averages. Guests who come back.
This industry is brutally competitive. Your reviews and your reputation decide whether you’ve got a full dining room, or a line out the drive-thru, or neither.
We build a program around your restaurant. Custom mystery shopping, video mystery shopping, satisfaction surveys, our own technology, all working together to improve the guest experience. Whether that guest is at a table or picking up an order at a window.
New restaurant or twenty-year neighborhood staple, we can help your staff serve better. Keep reading.
Restaurant Mystery Shopping Insights & Solutions
We build these for every format: full service, fast casual, quick service.
Start with real data on the behaviors that drive revenue. Then coach your team on exactly what to fix, so it sticks.
GameFilm® – Video Mystery Shopping
Real film of your staff with real guests. No subjectivity, just what happened. The original video mystery shop, invented by our founder.
MysteryShopping+ – Written Mystery Shopping
A scorecard built around your goals, scored by trained mystery shoppers.
RealFeedback™
GameFilm and MysteryShopping+ measure the objective side. RealFeedback catches the subjective one, through an evolved satisfaction survey.
RealCheck™
Mobile audits, manager checks to merchandising, built to measure and improve your operations.
These work even better combined. We’ll build the mix that fits, whether you’re timing a drive-thru window or coaching a full-service floor.
Online Ordering, Delivery, and Pick-Up
Online ordering isn’t a side channel anymore. For quick service especially, it’s core to the business.
That means ordering, delivery, and pick-up matter as much as what happens at the counter or the table. Food needs to look and taste the same delivered, picked up, or served in-house. And every pick-up customer deserves the same speed and attention as someone walking up to the register.
So how do you know your team’s holding that bar on every order? We build mystery shopping strategies specifically for delivery and pick-up, so you see it through your customer’s eyes, not just your staff’s. Then we turn that into a clear plan, start to finish.
RBG leads the industry in measuring and improving restaurant customer experience. In person, online, full service, quick service. All of it.
Why RBG?
Our technology and tools set us apart. Program design, scorecard build, coaching, training. We lead the pack.
Our closed-loop program is built around your restaurant, not a generic template. A fine dining room and a high-volume drive-thru don’t need the same thing, and we don’t treat them like they do.
Twenty-plus years of experience. Proven results built specifically for restaurants.
Our programs include core measurable action items, plus data points built for your concept and format.
We’ve led retail mystery shopping for more than 20 years. We know how to turn customer experience into revenue and loyalty, whatever kind of restaurant you run.
Let us show you the RBG difference. Get in touch and let’s build a program around your needs. Our process and our people set us apart, and it’ll show up on your bottom line.

Restuarant mystery shopping Frequently asked questions
What is restaurant mystery shopping?
It’s a way to see your restaurant the way a guest actually experiences it. Trained mystery shoppers visit as regular customers, dine in, order takeout, or use the drive-thru, and report back on what really happened. No manager standing over anyone’s shoulder, no staff performing for an audience. Just the real thing.
Do you cover drive-thru and delivery, or just dine-in?
All of it. Full service, fast casual, quick service, dine-in, drive-thru, delivery, and pick-up. If a guest interacts with your brand there, we can measure it.
What's GameFilm®?
Our video mystery shopping program. A shopper films the visit start to finish, so you see exactly what your team did, not a summary or a guess. It’s the same tool we’ve used to help restaurants win awards and fix service gaps other programs miss.
How often should we run mystery shopping visits?
Depends on your goals and how fast you want to see change. Some clients run weekly shops during a training push, others quarterly for ongoing benchmarking. We’ll help you find a cadence that fits your budget and what you’re trying to measure and fix.
How fast do we see results?
Most clients start seeing measurable change within a few months of consistent shops and coaching. The Malcolm Baldridge award K&N Management won took a multi-year program, but plenty of smaller wins, faster upsells, better greetings, show up much sooner.
Is this only for large restaurant chains?
No. We’ve worked with single-location spots and 50+ unit chains alike. The program scales to your size and goals, not the other way around.
Let’s start a project, get in touch, or just say, "Hello!"
